Welcome To The 2026 KCDSA Chapter Convention.

Last year we cancelled 3.48 million dollars in medical debt, launched the Trans ID Access Fund to combat anti-trans legislation in Kansas and established our premiere KC ICE Free campaign. What are we going to do this year? As a member of KCDSA, you can help us decide. We have more than doubled in membership since then so our capacity and potential for making change is even greater. So be sure to RSVP and attend the 2026 KCDSA Chapter Convention!

Before Convention

  • September 9 - All resolutions and bylaws ammendments must be submitted by 7PM to be considered at Chapter Convention.

  • September 12 - RSVP for DSA 101 and learn how to write proposals, conduct business with Robert's Rules and get familiar with our voting system, OpenSlides!

  • September 19 - If you cannot attend Convention you may arrange for a member in attendance to serve as your proxy vote at the meeting. This arrangement must be made an hour before the start of Chapter Convention.

    You may also request an absentee ballot which will be open for a period of 48 hours. If quorum is met at convention and the # of votes for or against is such that total absentee ballots could not alter the result, the Co-Chair may announce the outcome at time of vote.

The venue is wheelchair accessible and has gender inclusive restrooms

Bus Routes

PMAX - Prospect MAX - to 75th & Prospect (0.8 miles from venue)
85 - Paseo - to Paseo at 79th Southbound (0.8 miles from venue)
75 - 75th Street - to Prospect at 80th SB (0.2 miles from venue - at 8:30 AM on Saturday)

Parking

There are a around 70 painted parking spots plus 4 handicap spots at Our Spot KC. We highly encourage carpooling to ensure there is space for everyone.

Attendance Policy

Masks required for all in-person attendees.

Only MIGS (Members In Good Standing) will be able to vote on chapter business and elections.

Elections

We will be electing our Steering Committee, with new roles defined by our most recent 2026 Bylaws Amendment passed at our August Legislative Meeting. We will also have elections for our Red Thread Content Board, which includes 6 seats. We will hear from our nominees and then members will have a window of time to discuss the merits of the candidates and submit their ballots.
